Pre Purchase Surveys
Pre purchase surveys are carried on behalf of prospective purchasers, and consists of a condition assessment of the whole vessel and systems as far as can be accessed and ascertained without destructive testing.
A concise report will be written and dispatched promptly so that the purchaser can decide whether to continue with the purchase, or, if defects are identified, whether to re negotiate or back away from the purchase. The surveyor will provide advice and assistance prior to the purchaser making a decision.
Price: Depending on size, hull type and location, from £250 for a simple craft of approx 18ft in length.
Yacht Insurance Surveys
The craft will be inspected to confirm that it is actually just as described by the owners in respect of make, model, condition, specification.
The structure will be assessed for integrity and factors that may affect the survivability.
A machinery assessment covers the installation and external condition of engines and systems such as fuel and gas which affect the risk to the insurers.
An overview of the maintenance and cosmetic appearance affecting value will be given
A valuation may be requested by either owner or insurance company and this can be provided at a nominal extra fee.
Price: from £200 for a simple 18ft GRP yacht.
Yacht Damage Survey and Repair Supervision
The yacht would be inspected as soon as possible after the incident and the owner and crew interviewed to build up a story of the circumstances of the incident.
Assistance and advice will be offered with respect to minimising ongoing damages and preserving as well as possible items affected by the incident - for example minimising water damage to the engine and machinery.
The yacht will be inspected in more detail to quantify the extent of the direct damages and also the consequential damages if any.
The yacht will be compared to the description of the proposal form to confirm that it had been insured to the correct level and was being operated in accordance with any conditions of its insurance
Possible repairs may be suggested and quotes from repairers compared. Final invoices and claim document s reconciled and commented upon.
Normally commissioned by Insurers at hourly rate fees plus expenses.
Yacht Tonnage Measurement for UK Registration
Officially authorised to carry out tonnage measurements through the YDSA for British Registry purposes and for finance applications.
Ship loading / discharge and Draft surveys
Monitoring of loading of cargo to confirm condition on loading and writing of appropriate Clauses for Bills of Lading.
Monitoring discharge of cargo to confirm quality and or quantity, Investigation into causes of damages to cargo such as water ingress.
Draft survey on loading or discharge to confirm cargo weight.
Testing of hatch covers using non destructive ultrasonic test apparatus.

Ship damages and repairs
Detailed inspection of the damage, whether to hull or to machinery.
Assessment of degree of seriousness.
Provision of advice to owners, managers or insurers as appropriate with regards to the damages and the necessary repairs.
Assessment of repair quotations.
Monitoring of repairs to ensure specification is met and quality is achieved .
Liaison with authorities if required, these may be MCA, Classification, Harbor Authorities etc.
Assessment of invoices and completion certificates.

Ship Condition Surveys for P&I, On-hire or Off-hire
Such survey visits can be tailored to suit the appointing company's requirements and can include some or all elements noted below.
External hull condition inspection, internal hull condition inspection, cargo spaces and cargo gear inspections, cargo damages inspections, machinery space inspections, mooring and anchoring gear inspections, Bridge and Navigational equipment inspections.
Inspections on behalf of P&I clubs can take place prior to cover being approved or during a period of cover to confirm that the ship is still being operated as stated, and is being maintained and operated to a sufficiently high level.

MCA SCV Coding Surveys for small commercial vessels
Inspection of charter vessels and small commercial vessels and issue of Certificates of Compliance , including annual renewal surveys. This work done in conjunction with the YDSA acting as Certifying Authority.
